&lt;P&gt;The 14,000-square-foot store will take up part of the old &lt;A href="http://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/gen/Wild_Oats_9C7ADDA04F404401A18B8DE4B358E626.html"&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Wild Oats&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/A&gt; building, a highly-sought-after retail space because of its visibility and location. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The store scheduled to open before Thanksgiving, says Alison Mochizuki, the company's national director of publicity. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The company, which started in Southern California in 1958, has more than 250 stores in 22 states. Trader Joe's are known for their selections of gourmet and natural foods, personal home and hygiene products, wine and private label lines. &lt;P&gt;Mesa, Ariz. came in first place with a graduation rate of 77.1 percent, while San Jose, Calif. and Nashville-Davidson County School District tied for second place at 77 percent. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Memphis ranked 13th on the list with a graduation rate of 61.7 percent. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The report didn't bring good news for many major cities. It found that 17 of the 50 largest cities had high school graduation rates lower than 50 percent. &lt;/P&gt;

Tennessee &lt;BR&gt;had TWO cities make it into the top 20!&lt;BR&gt;&lt;BR&gt;Memphis ranked 9th, and Nashville ranked 16th! [FYI: The LEAST &lt;BR&gt;affordable market in the study, ranked 50th? Los Angeles, CA]&lt;BR&gt;&lt;BR&gt;The study looked at median household income per month and the median &lt;BR&gt;total housing payment per month - for each of the 50 markets - to &lt;BR&gt;compute total housing payment as a percentage of household income. This &lt;BR&gt;showed 22.43% of income spent on housing in Memphis. In Nashville, the &lt;BR&gt;figure was 24.15% spent on housing. &lt;P&gt;The state had 293 corporation location projects last year that either had a capital investment of at least $1 million, created at least 50 new jobs or involved the creation at least 20,000 square feet of new floor area. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The magazine does not track retail or government projects, hospitals or schools, meaning only private, for-profit expansions were counted. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The survey, compiled by numbers tracked by Site Selection's parent company Conway Data Inc., also ranked metro areas in four categories by size. The rankings were based on the number of job creation projects. &lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Nashville-Murfreesboro ranked sixth for metro areas of populations of more than 1 million, Knoxville ranked 10th for metro areas between 200,000 to 1 million, and in the 50,000-200,000 metro category, Morristown ranked second and Johnson City ranked fourth. &lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;One trend working in the area's favor is home prices. Middle Tennessee did not experience a rapid escalation in prices like that in boom markets such as Arizona, California and Florida.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;"Nashville has held up much better," said Alexander Miron, an associate economist who tracks Nashville for Moody's Economy.com in West Chester, Pa.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The median price of a home sold locally remains about three times the average household income, a ratio that economists say historically has meant stable prices.&lt;BR&gt;&lt;BR&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Subprime mortgages also are less prevalent in Middle Tennessee than in other parts of the country, which should keep foreclosures from rising to the levels seen elsewhere.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Builders, meanwhile, finally appear to be getting a handle on inventories, said Charles, the housing economist. The number of homes in Middle Tennessee that have been built but not yet sold has held steady at about 3,900 for the past four months.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;"That has gone up in the last year. It's gone up by 720 finished units," Charles said. "But we are seeing it cresting."&lt;BR&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
